Cook - Regular Full-time – Report to Director

We are seeking someone to prepare delicious and healthy meals and snacks for our school. If you like to cook and love serving others nutritious meals, then this is the place for you! Come join our team and help provide our children yummy snacks and meals. You will cook dishes that will delight our children with their taste and timely delivery.

 

Qualifications:
 High School Diploma or GED and experience in commercial kitchen operations preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish 
  • Experience using different ingredients and cooking tools 
  • multi-tasking
  • Ability to follow instructions/recipes
  • Basic math and measurement skills
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Maintain food organized and out of the floor (at least 12 inches off the floor).
  • Maintain refrigerator and freezer clean and report any malfunctions to the director.
  • Memorize any child allergies or food intolerances
  • Prepare and distribute meals and snacks to classrooms
  • Follow appropriate portion guidelines for cooking/serving meals according to children's age
  • Record keeping and documentation 
  • Attend yearly Federal Food Program training and meet yearly training hour requirements
  • Keep open food seal and label in zip locks or plastic containers.
  • Discard food with expired dates.
  • Discard any foods with expired dates.
  • Wash, rinse and sanitize dishes
  • Report any suspect abuse to the supervisor.
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen that includes the cleaning of tables, appliances and floor.
  • Maintain a cheerful environment with the parents, children and employees of La Esperanza.
  • Diligently follow the Food Safety Checklist from CDC and the City of Albuquerque and Environmental Department.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, drive, sit for long periods of time and use computer equipment and cell phones. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
 
Compensation: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Each center is independently owned and operated. Your application will go directly to the center, and all hiring decisions will be made by the management of each center.
